Jessica has been part of my boudoir world for a long time. Her very first session goes all the way back to around 2014 when I was still photographing out of my own bedroom before the studio ever existed. Back then everything was a little more scrappy, a little less polished, and somehow that makes it even more special that she trusted me with her very first shoot. Over the years she’s come back again and again, watching her confidence grow right alongside my photography journey has been one of those full-circle moments that reminds me how long this journey has really been.

What stands out most about Jessica is how real she is about her insecurities and she keeps choosing to step in front of the camera anyway. She’s never pretended that confidence comes easily to her, but she keeps stepping in front of the camera and giving herself the chance to see herself differently. During our sessions in my beautiful Edgewood studio, we work around whatever her body needs that day, adjust poses when needed, laugh through the awkward moments, and celebrate the little victories along the way. And every single time, without fail, she leaves the studio glowing a little brighter than when she walked in.

Let's hear from Jessica herself!

Tell me a little about yourself and what season of life you were in when you booked your session.

I am a mom, I am a wife and I have always struggled with self-confidence. I grew up with medical issues which made me look and be very different from everyone else. I am very vertically challenged and I have a birth injury as well as severe scoliosis, so I have limitations when it comes to certain movements and actions. I also have a genetic condition that causes tumors, and that has also played an huge part into my lack of confidence. But each and every session that I have with Ella, I always leave feeling beautiful and confident. When I receive my photos back, I am able see that reflected in those photos.

What made you decide to book your boudoir session?

I have booked my sessions because I wanted to see myself in a different light. I wanted to do something for myself. And I wanted to give something to my husband 😘😉

How long had you been thinking about it before you actually booked?

The first session took me a while to book, but after that first session I wanted to do more, and I could not wait to have the ability to book further sessions.

What made you choose me as your photographer?

I love your work. I have followed you since you were doing sessions out of your house, and to see how you have grown in skills and style… I continue to go back to you because your photos are beautiful!

Did you have any specific insecurities or worries coming into the shoot?

Of course I had insecurities. Not being able to do certain poses because of my limitations. Also, my tumors and birthmarks. As well as my body not looking the way I want it to look. But I still come back because no matter what insecurities I have, I know that you are going to make me feel as beautiful as I am in those photos. Because we are all beautiful, even if we don’t see it everyday.

How did you feel during the session once we got started?

Very comfortable, it was as if I had known you for a very long time. The ability to carry on conversations and joke around and the way you listened to my concerns, you made me feel at ease. Which I appreciated very much.

Confidence doesn't have to come first
